The British Virgin Islands consist of Jost VanDyke (pronounced Yost), Tortola, Beef Island, Norman Island, Peter Island, Cooper Island, Salt Island, Virgin Gorda, Dog Island and several smaller islands. Together they enclose the Sir Francis Drake Channel. Beef Island has a very small airport.

Tortola
This is the island the windjammer Flying Cloud calls home port. It is a nice island, but, except for one bar on the beach road, it is closed on Sundays.

Beef Island
This is a small flat island connected to Tortola by the Queens Bridge. It has a small airport that serves all of the BVIs.

Virgin Gorda
This is the eastern most major island in the BVIs. The Bitter End Yacht Club makes it home here. Above the baths, a famous outcrop of rock on the beach, is a beautiful restaurant.

In May, 2001 we spent an enjoyable 10 days at the all inclusive Bitter End Yacht Club beach combing, eating and sailing. The sailboats are included in the cost and are a must if you stay here. They hold a guest regatta every Sunday. We didn't make it into this one, but we definitly will the next time. It is a little pricey, but it was Waynes favorite place (after the wedding in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, which was his favorite palce and time).

Jost VanDyke
This small island is Northwest of Tortola. It has only one road, no cars, a restaurant and three bars on the beach. A nice getaway.

Norman Island
This desert island is the basis for the book Treasure Island. Gold doubloons are sometimes found by divers in the partially submerged cave.
